En diciembre de 2005, el abogado de derechos humanos Gao Zhisheng publicó su tercera carta abierta a altos funcionarios chinos pidiendo el fin de la campaña de persecución hacia los practicantes de Falun Dafa (también llamado Falun Gong) iniciada por el Partido Comunista Chino en 1999.
